The Mid-Senior Graphic Designer role
As AlphaSights continues to grow, we’re looking to add a talented Mid Weight – Senior Graphic Designer to our small, but close-knit in-house design team. Based in London and reporting to the Brand Design Director, you’ll drive creative output for a variety of projects, lead on strategic campaigns, and be responsible for mentoring and inspiring junior members of the team. You’ll be a brilliant designer, confident storyteller, versatile, and willing to apply design-thinking across all stages of the creative process; from immersion, strategy, and implementation.
What you’ll be responsible for
Generating interesting, beautifully executed creative work, leading the output on projects through every stage of development, and providing creative input at brainstorms and weekly design catch-ups.
Leading on creative ideation, execution, and roll-out of strategic campaign projects during our recruiting seasons
Helping develop guidelines, icons, imagery and videos to ensure all touchpoints are cohesive and on brand
Creating engaging one-pagers, information sheets and other literature
Designing striking, on-brand Google-Slides and Google-Docs presentations
Creating occasional graphics for the website, taking into account UX/UI principles
Helping create motion graphics and videos if you have the skills, or are willing to learn
Project managing work and collaborating with other internal teams to ensure briefs are fully explored, manage expectations of stakeholders, and deliver what is needed from concept to completion.
Effectively distilling and communicating direction to the team after stakeholder feedback
Supporting the Studio Manager to ensure work gets delivered on time
Managing external vendors and freelancers when needed to ensure they deliver to high standards
Pursuing and maintaining exceptional levels of craft with the highest design standard and attention to detail
Mentoring Junior Designers with encouragement and constructive feedback, inspiring them with your energy, enthusiasm, and love of design
Act as an AlphaSights Brand Guardian, ensuring all work is to the highest standard
What we’re looking for
2 – 3+ years of relevant industry experience gained in a commercial environment
2:1 or higher obtained at bachelor level in a design-related field, preferably graphic design
A stunning portfolio or showreel that demonstrates concept-driven design and superbly crafted projects. We want to see versatility, experimentation, system-thinking and evidence of having worked on a range of print and digital projects from start to finish
You’ll need to be a creative, inquisitive sort, bursting with ideas and have an instinctive flair for layout and typography
Strong attention to detail and the ability to turn complex ideas into clearly understandable visuals
Strong people skills. You should be comfortable working as a team, confident in conducting interviews, and interacting with senior stakeholders. You’ll also need to be open minded, flexible, and not precious about your work
You’ll have some experience creating and managing visual, verbal and strategic campaign projects
Excellent communication and presentation skills. You’ll have a natural aptitude for connecting with people, be mature, perceptive, and able to ‘read’ a room
A great planner who thinks ahead and is able to juggle and prioritise multiple projects
A resilient, positive outlook. Someone who’s not easily fazed by tight deadlines and able to pivot at short notice when needed
An ambitious, quick learner with a can-do-attitude who wants to grow as a team member and design professional
Technical skills
High level of skill using Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop and Acrobat
Good working knowledge of Google Slides, Google Docs, Powerpoint, and Word
Understanding of peripheral design processes (e.g. print production, liaising and briefing suppliers, working with specialists, etc)
